Android 7.0 Nougat, the latest public edition of the Android OS, is already out on Google's flagship phones. Third-party manufacturers are going to take some time adapting the update to their own flagship models, and the news about when they're coming to all the latest phones is coming in bit by bit.
According to rumors, Samsung will be getting Android 7.0 Nougat on their Galaxy S7 and Note 7 phones sometime in January 2017. As for LG's G4, G5 & V10 line of phones, PhoneArena.com reports rumors that they might be getting the new operating system sometime in February. Even though LG itself has not announced anything with regard to Android 7.0 Nougat, there was an LG G3 that was seen running the OS, fueling speculation that it's bound to come sooner or later.
Mobile & Apps reports that Android 7.0 Nougat is going to bring a lot of big improvements to the operating system, as is usually the case for benchmark updates. The biggest draw for the updated OS are better compatibility for virtual reality headsets and longer battery life, thanks to the advanced Doze screensaver feature. Also included are multi-window features, improved 3D and software graphics, and better security encryption that helps protect against would-be hackers. It first launched on Google's own smartphones, the Nexus and the new Pixel.
Third-party Android smartphone manufacturers usually take this long to get the new OS update, especially if they're running their own version of Android. Samsung, for example, has its own Android modification called the TouchWiz UI, and they're taking their sweet time adapting Android 7.0 Nougat into the next version of TouchWiz.
