New pokémon Honedge revealed, coming to Pokémon X and Y [Trailer]

After a new pokémon "Monorpale" was revealed at an expo in France, Game Freak finally clued the rest of us in on details for the new creature, known in English as "Honedge."

Honedge, "honed edge," as in sharp, get it? I swear, they just get more and more creative with these names with each new game...

Honedge is a ghost/steel type pokémon, able to learn sword dance. Makes sense. Honedge was originally nothing more than a sword, until a departed spirit thought the weapon would make a good as place as any to inhabit. Now in control of the sword, the spirit can use the blue cloth on the sword's hilt as an arm of sorts.

Counting Honedge, a total of 21 new pokémon have been revealed so far, including 3 brand new starter pokémon, all set to make their official game debut in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the DS and 3DS this fall. More are expected to be seen in the coming months. With the number of Pokémon growing more and more massive with each generation, obviously some changes had to be made to the cataloguing system to keep all these little creatures straight, the Pokédex. In order to help with the organization, the Pokédex has been split into three separate parts, or regions of the new explorable world, Kalos: Central, Coastal, and Mountain.

Other changes have been included as well, such as aerial battles, multiple pokémon ganging up on you, attacks that can hit several different targets at once, and of course, the usual array of new explorable towns, gym masters, techniques for pokémon to learn, and so on.

Game Freak released a new trailer to show off the pokémon, as well as discusee the Kalos region's Parisian influences. You can see the whole thing below, or skip to the 3:50 mark to see Honedge.
