Battlefield 4 on PS4 could arrive with support for keyboard, mouse

The high-profile age of console gaming has already seen a massive blow being dealt to the way we have grown up playing games – via PC. However, irrespective of what goes on in the industry, the PC platform has kept moving on with developing companies still offering support for the ever loyal PC gamers. And now the same PC support could arrive for the upcoming Battlefield 4 that will run on Sony’s PlayStation 4.

According to reports, DICE is considering offering support for PC-based keyboard and mouse for the Battlefield 4 title that will run on Sony’s PS4. Talking about the latest FPS title from DICE, multiplayer producer Aleksander Grondal, recently in an interview with AusGamers, revealed more on the game’s eventual structure and what we can expect in the coming months.

Grondal stated: “We have mouse and keyboard support for the PC obviously, but I can’t speak now specifically for next gen consoles. But if it makes sense in the Battlefield universe, for a Battlefield game, we’ll consider it.”

Additionally, while discussing previous multiplayer capabilities from Battlefield 3, which took off following the video demo at GDC 2011 with the famous in-game earthquake, there were questions if the team always had dynamic environment shifts in mind and wanted to implement the same in future versions of the massively popular shooter title, Grondal replied that such an idea was always on the cards.

“That whole skyscraper event is an evolution of the concept. The idea was to add big and small events that dynamically change the battlefield, so it will feel different every time you play it.”

“So here on Siege of Shanghai, you have the destruction of the skyscraper that creates a whole new gameplay area for you guys to play around in. It also throws up a lot of dust into the air, so then the whole visual look and feel of the map changes, and the viewing distance also changes a lot, so you need to be in closer -- if you’re in the helicopter, for instance: you need to be in closer to see targets and engage,” Grondal added.

Battlefield 4 is currently set for a release later this year on current and next generation consoles, and PC.
