"Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 was supposed to arrived before 2016 ends but it seems this is not happening at all. Since the anime series' season 2 has long ended, more that a year to be exact, fans are clamoring for a sequel and they want it now.
And since there is no word from "Tokyo Ghoul" producers, many people speculated dates based on their estimation. At any rate, now that the 2016 release date is not likely to push through, there were reports that it will premiere next year instead, with March 2017 being the latest date.
According to Saiko Plus, "Tokyo Ghoul" is delayed because the show lacks materials to start its broadcast. It was said that there is not enough episodes to continue the story so the production team have to create more. This is also the reason why the pre-production process could not begin yet.
On the other hand, the live action movie adaptation of "Tokyo Ghoul" may be another reason why the TV series' release date has been moved to a later time. Fandom reported that the film adaptation is hitting theaters in Japan some time in 2017.
On the "Tokyo Ghoul" movie's official website, the lead actors were introduced and details about the film have been shared. The cast include Masataka Kubota as Ken Kaneki and Fumika Shimizu as Touka Kirishima.
As the producers focus on screenwriting of the "Tokyo Ghoul" live-action film, the anime has to take the back seat for a while. Nevertheless, fans are eagerly waiting for the exact date when the anime series will finally appear on TV again.
"Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3's story may continue from where it left off in season 2. But of course, there will be some changes to improve the plot as fans were reportedly disappointed in the second installment.
Meanwhile, for this upcoming season of "Tokyo Ghoul," it is believed that Kaneki will find his new identity after regaining back his memory. Further, according to leaked info, the story will mainly revolved around Touka and Furuta.
