Xbox One Backward Compatibility Release Date, News & Update: ‘Oblivion’, ‘COD: Modern Warfare 3’ Version Just A Mistake?

Xbox One's backward compatible games previously included "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" and "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion", as mentioned on the official Xbox Live Black Friday sale site.  However, latest reports suggest that there has been a mistake with the games' inclusion on the said site.

Based on reports, both games have been removed from the Xbox One backward compatible titles on the Xbox Live Black Friday sale site. Microsoft's Major Nelson also confirmed about the error in the listings via Twitter.

Although "Modern Warfare 3" and "Oblivion" remain to be part of the Xbox Live listing for the Black Friday sale, both games are playable only on Xbox 360 console. With that, "Modern Warfare 3" is sold at $15, while "Oblivion" is now down to $4.94 as Xbox One backward compatible titles.

Meantime, Xbox 360 titles that have backwards compatibility are also offered in a dual-packaging. The games now have added description at the top portion of the product's front cover that says it can now be played on Xbox One and Xbox 360.

According to a Microsoft representative, the tech company has updated the packaging to make it easier for the fans to identify the Xbox One Backward Compatible titles. The company also claims to continue addressing the fans' concerns through the Xbox Feedback and keep on working with their publishing partners to improve their library of Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles, according to report.

Meanwhile, the next major Xbox One update is expected to refresh the Guide menu and likely eliminate the Snap feature. Based on reports, Microsoft plans to eliminate the feature entirely and provide instead a picture-in-picture multitasking tool that hovers on the in the corner of the game.

Xbox One updated tool is believed to disable the archaic Snap mode app from consuming much space of the screen. Similarly, the company also plans to make Guide easier to use by including more functionality and features on the Xbox One, Express reported.
