‘Doctor Strange' Hits Big Time In Box Office, Labeled As Marvel Comics Universe's Best One Hero Film

It has been a good movie season for Marvel Cinematic Universe since the release of "Doctor Strange" in cinemas last week. Garnering over $600 million worldwide through Sunday this week, the movie has been deemed to be the highest grossing one-hero film of all time.

'Doctor Strange's' Success So Far

"Doctor Strange" is yet to be released in countries like Japan and it has already made its mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe this week.As the fifth offshore frame for the Sorcerer's Supreme, it has garnered $9.8 million at the international box office on with a total of $410.9 million today, reported Deadline.

Additionally, the film has also gained $13.4 million in its first three days from release and has reached $616 million over the weekend. Domestically, "Doctor Strange" has been lodged as part of the top 10 movies this year in threefold - domestically, internationally, and overseas. In fact, it has been the biggest single-character introduction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This has been good news for Disney as they had already reached their $6 million marks in 2016 movies alone. With "Doctor Strange" set to release in Japan this coming January 27, 2016, the movie is still expected to earn more than what it has now.

What To Expect For The Second Installment In The Franchise?

In other news, Comic Book Movie revealed that the Mistress of Death to be introduced in "Avengers: Infinity War" served as a villain spoiler for the second installment of "Doctor Strange." Based on the comic books which were the basis of Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thanos would partake in destroying all life in the universe to impress Death and win her affections.

As was suggested by the source, since the Mistress of Death has been lodged as a Marvel concept art but was later confirmed to be an unused design for the Zealots featured in "Doctor Strange."

With the success that "Doctor Strange" has garnered on its first month of release, will the villain spoiler to be featured on "Avengers: Infinity War" trigger more success for the second installment of the franchise? Find out as the latter movie will release on May 4, 2018.
