Gone were the days when "Thor," "Iron Man," and "Captain America" were the only reason why the Marvel Cinematic Universe is on top. Just this year, we welcomed another superhero that displayed a unique concept which is the "Doctor Strange."
"Doctor Strange" has officially hit the big screen last November 2016 and although it was the first time to introduce him to the crowd, a lot of people shelled out cash just to watch the movie.
"Doctor Strange" Beats "Iron Man"
After hitting the big screen, "Doctor Strange" has just proven that even a solo character movie can be successful as most of the times, it takes about a group of superheroes to create better movies. The most shocking part is that the movie has become too successful, it beats our beloved genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist, "Iron Man."
According to Deadline, "Iron Man" holds the record of the most successful single-character Marvel movie with about $585 million earning. However, "Doctor Strange" has received $616 million globally.
Success Amidst The High Stakes
Let's all admit it, "Doctor Strange" is kind of a strange concept compared to other Marvel movies. Also, he is a much lesser known superhero that most of us have never heard of. But it's a good thing that Marvel took the risk of introducing him to the public as it also opened opportunities to the future solo-character hero movie. This only proves how established the brand is and that it will continue growing. "Marvel's Phase Three" will not only include "Doctor Strange" as the only new hero but also Spider-Man and Black Panther. Luckily for the two as they were already introduced the last movie of "Captain America: The Civil War." But still, these movies will be a new world like how "Doctor Strange" incorporated magic.
