"Marvel vs. Capcom 4" has been reported to be released on 2017. The previous installments of the crossover game have been widely well received among fans of the two battling franchises, which would now result to a sequel.

Crossover Game Sequel

Rumor mills have been churning news that an upcoming "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" is currently being developed, and is set for a release on 2017. However, there has been no exact release date yet. There are predictions, though, stating that the upcoming crossover game will be launched during the scheduled "Capcom Street Fighter 5" tournament later this week.

No More X-Men?

Characters from different Capcom franchises have become stable throughout the releases. In the previous installment, Capcom characters battled a whole lot of X-Men characters from the Marvel universe. In "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" though, the Capcom characters may finally encounter new faces, such as the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and even Ant-Man, all from Marvel.

There have been rumors stating that the X-Men will not be appearing anymore in "Marvel vs. Capcom 4." In the previous crossover game, which gained the moniker "Fate of the Two Worlds," a host of X-Men characters, including Magneto, Wolverine, Storm, Phoenix, and Sentinel, were featured. The game was released around five years ago, so a refresh is long overdue.

Marvel and Capcom

Three years ago, however, the license agreement between Capcom and Marvel had already expired. The third "Marvel vs. Capcom" game, along with all the additional contents, has been removed from the Xbox and PlayStation libraries. However, fans are still hoping that "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" could still happen.

Jay Ong, Vice President of Marvel Games, had stated that the company is well aware that the crossover games are quite popular among their fans, especially the "Marvel vs. Capcom" franchise. There has been no confirmation though on whether the upcoming "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" is under development, but does not deny it either. Meanwhile, Capcom refused to comment on the matter.
