‘Code Geass’ Season 3 ‘Lelouch of the Resurrection’ Announced: Lelouch Will Be Back in Season 3

Sunrise has announced the launch of "Code Geass" Season 3 titled "Lelouch of the Resurrection" at the "Code Geass" 10th Anniversary event on Sunday, Nov. 27. However, the format of the project is not revealed yet. A trilogy compilation film is also announced in the same event.

In the "Code Geass" event, anime director Goro Taniguchi confirmed that the main protagonist Lelouch Lamperouge, who dies in the Season 2 will be back in Season 3. He will be back as real Lelouch and not as his clone, reported Itech Post.

"Code Geass" is the story of the exiled prince of Britannia, Lelouch Lamperouge. Lelouch goes to Japan with his younger sister, Nunnally as a political hostage. Lelouch obtains a Geass called "Power of Kings" which enables him to give the absolute command to anyone. Now, Lelouch disguises himself as a masked vigilante called Zero and creates the Black Knights from Japanese resistance forces to destroy Britannia. Makers have not revealed details of "Code Geass" season3 "Lelouch of the Resurrection".

"Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion" was released in 2006 and "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2" was released in 2008. The Adult Swim network aired "Code Geass" Season2 and 3 in North America in 2008. Bandai Entertainment released both seasons' home videos.  But after 2012, Bandai stopped offering new DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and manga releases, as per Anime News Network.  In 2013 Funimation announced its license of the series.

"Code Geass: Akito the Exiled OVA", a spin off of the first 2 series was released in 2012. The series contained 5 episodes. The three-part film series announced in the anniversary event will recap  "Code Geass" Season 1 and Season 2. The cast has started re-recording all their lines for the film which will be released in 2017.
