"Secrets and Lies" Season 2 began following the events that happened in Episode 1, when Det. Andrea Cornell handled a new murder case, including some personal baggages to deal with. ABC's series creator Barbie Kligman revealed that Cornell's character took a turn when the first season ended after dealing with Ben Crawford.
"Secrets and Lies" Season 2 moreover, revealed that Eric Warner, played by Michael Ealy, was questioned for the alleged murder of his wife, played by Jordana Brewster. The case, however, appeared to be a strange territory for Cornell, compared to the crime she investigated a year ago, or something with more dangerous enemies.
The "Secrets and Lies" Season 2 takes place in a private equity firm in Charlotte, since the series creator wanted the first suspect to be very different than Ben Crawford, whose character was played by Ryan Philippe, as well as a new environment. Instead of Crawford, the second season had a wealthy and well-educated man, who has the support of his family and his father who is considered valuable within the community.
Although Season 2 expanded into a much bigger environment, with the addition of new characters, the story technique of season one is reportedly used, from the perspective of Cornell and her suspect. However, Cornell's point of view was given more focus, which started in Episode 4, TVGuide reported.
Meanwhile, Episode 2's "The Husband" showed Cornell interrogating Eric following the revelation of his shocking transgression in the past. "Secrets and Lies" Season 2 Episode 1 showed Eric in a juvenile detention center for the death of Steven Porter. Whenever asked about Porter, Eric would only say that he "did not intend to kill" him, according to report.
"Secrets and Lies" Season 2 Episode 2 revealed one of Kate's several secrets. Based on the past episodes, the viewers were made aware of her secret P.O. box, including the fact that she had given birth to a baby, which Eric had no idea. But with the help of his sister Amanda, played by Mekia Cox, Eric began to investigate.
