A different side of Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) will come out when "Gotham" season 3 returns in the new year. In the show's midseason finale, titled "Mad City: Beware the Green-Eyed Monster," Selina was proven right when her mother, who was thought dead, revealed herself.
According to Bicondova, who learned about the twist back in season 2, the return of Selina's mother in "Gotham" season 3 will have a lasting and potentially permanent emotional effect on the young woman. "It's going to affect her greatly because she's always been very guarded," the actress told Entertainment Weekly.
The "Gotham" season 3 star also revealed that her mother brings out a different side of Selina and that her reappearance could take the character down a very dark road. "Eventually, it will be a darkness that we haven't seen before," Bicondova said. "What scares Selina is how much she unconditionally loves her mom no matter how messed up her action are."
Apart from the upcoming personal conflict spurred by her mom's arrival, Selina will also reportedly be "confused" about her relationship with the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). "She's not going to admit anything for a very long time, at least to herself," the actress told the outlet, adding that the friction between the two characters in the latter half of "Gotham" season 3 will be "intense."
Meanwhile, the trailer released after the fall finale of "Gotham" season 3 reveals that Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) will return in the back half of the season. Because the character was murdered by Theo Galavan (James Frain) back in season 2, it remains to be seen how the character will be resurrected and in what form he will reappear. ComicBookMovie.com notes that fans have long thought that Jerome is the "Proto Joker" and that his re-introduction could refuel those speculations.
