Cosmog is considered as extremely rare Pokemon in "Pokemon Sun and Moon" which is only known by some in the Alola region. Cosmog has a gaseous body and is very light. In the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" the main storyline, a mysterious girl named Lillie is attempting to help return a Cosmog to its home dimension according to WWG. Lillie's mother is planning to open an Ultra Wormhole to unleash Ultra Beast in the current dimension.

The Cosmog then eventually evolves to either Solgaleo or Lunala and immediately joins with the player team in "Pokemon Sun and Moon" and the players won't be able to collect the data for Cosmog in the Pokedex including its evolution form Cosmoem when you finish the game's main story line.

After the main storyline of the game is completed in the "Pokemon Sun and Moon", players need to go the Altar of the Sunne for "Pokemon Sun" and the Altar of the Moone in the "Pokemon Moon". The players then enter a portal to travel to the Lake of Sunne or the Lake of the Moone and climb on top of a platform at the lake.

Once the players climb the platform a cutscene will then enter and Cosmog will automatically join the player's team in "Pokemon Sun and Moon". The Cosmog's data will now then be registered to the Pokedex while the Cosmog is expected evolve at Level 43 in to a Cosmoem.

The Cosmoem will now then evolve to Solgaleo or Lunala at Level 53 which depends on which Pokemon game you have. The "Pokemon Sun and Moon" player has to trade with a friend in the Global Trade System if they want to obtain both Solgaleo or Lunala.
