'Death Stranding' Latest News & Updates: Hideo Kojima Says There Are Clues Hiding In The New Trailer!

"Metal Gear Solid" and "Silent Hill" creator Hideo Kojima is back after leaving Konami, and he's debuted a new trailer for his new project "Death Stranding" at The Game Awards last night. Starring "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus, "Doctor Strange" villain Mads Mikkelsen, and even an appearance by famous director Guillermo del Toro, the whole thing is quite weird.

Hideo Kojima tweeted on his personal Twitter account that the new "Death Stranding" trailer he debuted contains a lot of clues and apparent red herrings. It's unsure why someone would also decide to reveal the fact that there are misleading red herrings, but there you go. Kojima is encouraging his fans to comb the trailer over and over to figure out clues, but even if they were able to find any, a lack of bigger context makes it hard to make a lot of sense out of the trailer.

The "Death Stranding" trailer involves Guillermo del Toro holding a baby, and Mads Mikkelsen portraying a fearsome character with strange powers. According to GameSpot, the character Mikkelsen is playing seems to be leading some sort of military group, but leading seems to be a misnomer, as he looks like he is directly controlling them like a puppetmaster. The character possesses what seem to be tentacles connecting to the soldiers of his group, which also secrete some sort of black, oil-like liquid from their eyes. They weren't lying when they said it was weird.

There's not much known about "Death Stranding" and its story just yet, even though Kojima had been releasing trailers. For now, all that's revealed about the game is that it will be launching for PlayStation 4 and the PC when it does, but there's obviously no target release date yet. Kojima says that the game is still very early in development.
