The Miss Universe 2016 will come right after one of the most controversial years in the pageant's 65-year history. Hosted again by Steve Harvey, the world's most popular beauty pageant will be held in the Philippines for the third time.
After the Business Mirror reported that the holding of Miss Universe 2016 was almost cancelled, preparations for the pageant are already underway. The supposed cancellation was said to be in reaction to Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte's alleged anti-Semitic remarks. Thankfully, Duterte issued an apology and representatives from Filipino organizers fixed everything with Miss Universe Organization owner IMG.
However, there is the matter of the host. There are rumors that Filipino organizers are determined to axe Steve Harvey as host of Miss Universe 2016. After Harvey's very public flub last year, the team is said to be hesitant on Harvey's ability to carry the show. According to Variety, Harvey announced the wrong winner, earning criticisms from pageant fans all over the world.
The Filipino organizers, however, are hard pressed to find a replacement as Harvey is said to have signed a contract to host Miss Universe 2016 way before last year's gaffe. Because of this, the team may have to settle with Harvey and hope that everything goes according to plan.
