With the growing drama behind the recent season of "Suits," including the departure of major characters, rumors have been circulating online about the cancellation of the show. However, these have now been debunked, as "Suits" Season 7 is officially happening.
"Suits" Season 7 Confirmed, Cast Returning
As the show airs during the midseason schedule, the second half of "Suits" Season 6 will be returning at the beginning of 2017. According to a report, the cast is already done filming all the episodes of the season, sharing fun photos from the production. While spoilers about the official events of Season 6 have been sparse, "Suits" Season 7 has already been confirmed.
The remaining big characters of the show that will be returning to "Suits" Season 7 include the power duo of Harvey Specter and his already grown protégé, Mike Ross, respectively played by Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams.
Harvey's very efficient and enterprising secretary Donna, played by Sarah Rafferty, would also be returning. "Suits" Season 7 would also see the return of the ambitious and socially oblivious Louis Litt, portrayed by Rick Hoffman.
No More Jessica Pearson
The powerful head of the Pearson Specter Litt Law Firm, Jessica Pearson, left the story to pursue her own relationship with Jeff Malone, played by D.B. Woodside. The character would definitely not be returning to "Suits" Season 7.
In real life, though, Gina Torres, who portrays the law firm head, left the show to pursue a role in "The Catch." The actress is said to be having a difficult time traveling long distances to and from Los Angeles, so she will not be returning for "Suits" Season 7 anymore.
Rachel Zane Returns!
On the other hand, Mike Ross' significant other, Rachel Zane, will not be seeing much screen time on "Suits" Season 7. The actress who plays the role, Meghan Markle, is famously dating the royal Prince Harry, and will soon be joining him to travel in the Caribbean.
Markle is said to still film for her role in "Suits" Season 7 but will be taking some time off midway. This is to also accommodate her responsibility as the ambassador of the World Vision. "Suits" Season 6 will be returning on January 25 next year, on USA.
