NES Classic Edition Mini News & Update: Nintendo Rightfully Banks on Nostalgia; Where to Buy One Now

Kids who grew up in the '80s and '90s are a big chunk of Nintendo's market for the NES Classic Edition Mini, the miniature replica of the NES game console. It launched last month and immediately sold out, leaving a lot of gamers really disappointed. It seems that Nintendo rightfully banks on nostalgia, given that so many gamers are still waiting for the NES Classic Edition Mini to be restocked in stores.

The NES Classic Edition Mini was released on November 10, and soon thereafter, was sold out in most if not all retailers. The microconsole included 30 games released between 1984 and 1993, from Nintendo, Konami, Bandai Namco, and Capcom. Such games included "Donkey Kong," "Galaga," "Pac-Man," "Super Mario Bros.," and "Balloon Fight," among others. Nintendo rightfully banks on nostalgia with these games, getting people excited over titles they grew up with.

One downside to this is that the NES Classic Edition Mini immediately sold out, given that the microconsole is only $60. According to Engadget, the microconsole is easily lovable by nostalgic gamers not only because of the games in it, but also because it "looks and feels just like the original NES." It also features an excellent NES emulation, something that hardcore gamers would truly appreciate. Now that Nintendo rightfully banks on nostalgia, where can gamers buy one now?

Meanwhile, Telegraph reports that NES Classic Edition Mini is definitely something anyone would love to have under the Christmas tree this holiday season. It's easy to use, and only requires the HDMI cable connection that will showcase 720p display. It's powered by the usual micro-USB port and doesn't include an AC adaptor. Gamers have been quick to point out at how short the cables are, as we've all been spoiled by the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

According to CNBC, Toys R Us has taken to social media to announce that there will be limited stock of the NES Classic Edition Mini in their stores. This is in part of their Great Big Christmas Sale that kicked off yesterday and will run through December 10. For those who haven't gotten their hands on the NES Classic Edition Mini, now is your chance. If Nintendo rightfully banks on nostalgia and has gotten you hooked as well, head over to Toys R Us to get your own NES Classic Edition Mini.
