'Stranger Things' Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Is Barb's Storyline So Important? Fans Argue She Was A Bad Character

After fans were introduced to the terrifying world of the Upside Down, there is a lot of excitement ahead for "Stranger Things" season 2. One of the things that viewers are expecting from the series is how it will discuss the storyline of Barb.

Internet Wants Justice For Barb In "Strange Things" Season 2

The character Barb, played by Shannon Purser, was presented in the premiere season of "Stranger Things." Her stint on the series was shortlived as she received an unfortunate fate after accompanying her friend to a party, causing viewers to voice out their concern regarding her storyline. Since the series ended without closure on her disappearance, many are left wondering what could lie ahead for Barb in "Stranger Things" season 2.

However, it was confirmed that Barb is already dead. Creators of the series, The Duffer Brothers, explained that the fan favorite character is in fact dead. Because of this, it is likely that she will not be present in "Stranger Things" season 2. Meanwhile, the creators did tease that her story is still not over.

When speaking about "Stranger Things" season 2 during the New York Comic-Con, actor David Harbour explained that fans will receive some kind of closure for Barb. "We will tell you that we do deal with the loose ends in season 2, and we do deal with some of the internet rage over Barbs' death. We will have justice for Barb's death in some sense," said Harbour.

Reddit User Says Barb Is Selfish

On the other hand, there are some fans who do not think it is necessary to push her storyline any further for "Stranger Things" season 2. A Reddit user Madhenofmirkwood posted a thorough explanation on how bad Barb's character was in "Stranger Things." The thread elaborated on how possessive and self-interested Barb was, instead of the revered character other fans perceived her to be. In a way, it argued that Barb was being selfish towards Nancy, played by Natalie Dyer, which is why she deserved to be killed off.

Nevertheless, fans can expect to know more about how "Stranger Things" season 2 will progress the story of Barb. "Stranger Things" season 2 is expected to hit Netflix sometime next year.
