Netflix announced that "Sense8" will have a two-hour Christmas special that will air around the world on Dec. 23, 2016. "Sense8" Season 2 will also launch on May 5, 2017 with 10 new episodes.
"Sense8" Season 2 Details
Variety noted that the "Sense8" Christmas special was described as a continuation of the journey of the eight singular hearts and minds who continue to weave in and out of each other's lives. The "Sense8" characters will find deeper connections, learn dark and more desperate secrets about one another and fight to identify with more than just oneself.
"Sense8" Season 2 will also feature the same obscure setup where the entire cast will struggle to survive and understand one another against all odds. Executive producers Lana and Lilly Wachowski will not be involved in "Sense8" Season 2.
The show is scheduled to return to for more physically connected adventures riddled with sex and violence. The "Sense8" Season 2 story will pick up the final events of the previous season and showcase the sensates gathering physically and mentally as they run from Whispers and question their own identity.
According to some critics, "Sense8" still does not make a lot of sense for a lot of viewers. Hopefully, the second season can shed more light into the plot and characters to secure its future.
"Sense8" Cast and Production
CNet wrote that "Sense8" is an Emmy-nominated sci-fi drama created by J. Michael Straczynski and the Wachowski sisters. The story delves on eight strangers from different parts of the world who realize that they are "sensates," described as humans who are physically and emotionally connected.
As the characters attempt to get more answers, a mysterious organization is also on a mission to hunt them all down. "Sense8" stars Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae, Brian J. Smith, Aml Ameen, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Dary Hannah, Naveen Andrews, Max Riemelt, Tina Desai and Jamie Clayton. Straczynski and Grant Hill also serve as executive producers.
So far, no details about the upcoming Christmas special have been released, except that it will run for two hours. More updates and details on "Sense8" are expected soon.
