'Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite' Latest News & Updates: Captain America and Morrigan Officially Confirmed; Can Title Revive 'Dormant' Franchises?

The highly anticipated game "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" has just added two new characters. Captain America and Morrigan will be joining the roster for the 2017 game.

GameSpot reports that representatives for Marvel and Capcom have confirmed the news during this year's PlayStation Experience. A trailer has also been released to confirm the characters' addition into the "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" roster.

The said trailer also features the other heroes and fighters who will be featured in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." These include: Mega Man X, Ryu, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. Captain America and Morrigan's entry into the game is expected to add more thrill for the gameplay.

Meanwhile, another report by the gaming outlet says "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" is set to pave the way for the revival of "dormant" franchises in the Capcom universe. The yet-to-be-announced titles and franchises have not seen new installments over the past years. Unfortunately, Capcom is tight-lipped regarding which franchises will see a reboot.

"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" is expected to be a hit among players who have known the series for some time. It is also expected to appeal to those who have been following Marvel's stories whether in television, comic books, or movies. Marvel has a huge fan base and the recently announced installment is already getting a lot of attention online.

The first teaser unveiled during the PSX 2016 featured Ryu and Mega Man X in a fierce battle against Iron Man and Captain Marvel. The gameplay trailer also reveals some of the movesets that players can use for their chosen characters. On the other hand, the extended trailer for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" features Captain America and Morrigan trying to take down Ryu.

The two companies have yet to announce other characters who will be joining the complete roster for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite." The game's official release date has yet to be announced as well. Though there is no specific date yet, the game is slated to hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime 2017. Stay tuned for more updates!
