PS4 DualShock 4 controller will work ‘just fine’ on PC – Shuhei Yoshida

Sony’s new DualShock 4 controllers for the upcoming PlayStation 4 has been under spotlight for quite a while following its revolutionary features that make itself and the console a serious next-gen toy. However, a new revelation for the same now states that the controller can be used on PC as well – somewhat.

According to Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, has confirmed that the DualShock 4 controller will work just fine on the PC. However, before getting too exicted, keep in mind that that the controller will only work on the PC for basic functions.

When asked about the DualShock 4 and whether Sony is planning to release a driver that will make it compatible with Windows, Yoshida replied via his Twitter page that “the analog sticks and buttons will work just fine.”

He also added that although the controller will come with PC compatibility by default, it will only be restricted to basic functions. However, the best thing about this is that you can mash all those buttons and the analog sticks successfully when connected with the PC without the need to download or install a support driver.

Sony’s DualShock 4, compared to the previous PS controllers, is said to be more comfortable with its cylindrical design. One of the most attractive features of the controller is its Share button. As the name suggests, the Share button is intended for sharing videos and recording gameplay footage that can later be shared via streaming or can also be uploaded to YouTube. Also, the new options button combines Start and Select buttons into one.

Back in April, when asked about the controller’s social features in an interview, Yoshida stated: “I think it was [creative director] Nathan Gary in Santa Monica studios who suggested it: how about adding a dedicated button on the controller so that everybody can just press that button to share? He was helping out the external development, heavily involved in helping the development of Journey and Unfinished Swan at Santa Monica Studios.”

Sony’s PlayStation 4 is currently scheduled to release on Nov. 15 in North America and Nov. 29, 2013 in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
