Call of Duty: Ghosts Pre-Order Offers Ghosts From Modern Warfare 2

Simon "Ghost" Riley is Back From the Dead to Join the Ghosts Crew

Anyone remember Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Ghost? Despite taking a bullet from General Shepherd, it seems like he’s back from the great beyond with the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts.

In addition to the Freefall map and a double XP weekend, fans are entitled to receive a bonus in-game character in the form of Simon "Ghost" Riley. The only catch here is that they'll have to pre-order through GameStop.

While GameStop has already advertised the return of the fallen hero as a bonus character, the retailer has also published a brand new trailer (check below) that shows off the original “Ghost” in action. Upon pre-ordering the game, Simon will become a playable character within Call of Duty: Ghosts’ multiplayer mode.

Although this is a brand new pre-order deal for the game, a number of fans who have been following up on the game since its inception will not be surprised. This is mostly due to the fact that when Call of Duty: Ghosts was first rumored and was doing rounds on the Internet, it was assumed that the game would revolve around Simon – going by the title’s name. However, it was later revealed that there’s an entirely different reason why the new Call of Duty is called Ghosts.

Moreover, for the sake of other such similarities, while Ghost’s full name is Simon "Ghost" Riley, the in-game dog companion that will assist players in various missions is also called Riley. Coincidence? Maybe.

“Play as Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, one of the most iconic characters in Call of Duty history. Pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts and Get the classic Ghost Character, available exclusively at GameStop,” the official GameStop page for the same states.

When Ghost first appeared in Modern Warfare 2, he was a non-playable British character and an integral member of the 22nd SAS Regiment and Task Force 141 where he served his period as a Lieutenant. His final appearance was in the Loose Ends mission where he led a strike-team to search for Vladimir Makarov at his safehouse on the Georgian-Russian border and was later betrayed and shot by General Shepherd alongside Gary "Roach" Sanderson.

Ghost's body was then thrown into a ditch and set on fire along with Roach's.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is scheduled for a Nov. 5 launch on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC, with the game also heading over to next generation consoles later this year. Check out the GameStop trailer below.
