Legions of "Harry Potter" fans are in for another cinematic treat. Hollywood and internet darling Emma Watson is set to star in the movie adaptation of the best-selling Dave Eggers novel "The Circle."
The star who played Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" franchise will be playing the role of a young woman who is hired by a powerful tech company which produces an interesting new gadget that will change the way we see the world, with unsettling consequences. Starring with Watson is Oscar winner and Hollywood giant Tom Hanks and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" breakout star John Boyega.
In the film, Watson plays the lead Mae Holland who is employed by The Circle, a powerful tech company, led by charismatic tech guru Bailey (Tom Hanks), set to release a game-changing new device called SeeChange, a glass eyeball shaped camera that fit anywhere and transmits footage wirelessly.
Mae shoots up from naïve entry-level employee to worldwide online sensation for sharing everything about herself from her life's goals to her fears for the world to see. With her colleague Kalden (John Boyega), she navigates through the different possibilities and eventual dark consequences resulting in such power and freedom.
"The Cirlce" presents the vision of Bay Area satirist and author Dave Eggers on the possibilities and dangers of internet-age high technology. Hanks plays a Jobs/Musk type visionary tech entrepreneur with a vision of total transparency. With the popularity of drones and real-time sharing, how safe are we from each other in terms of what we share to the world and what we should keep to ourselves?
Starring along Emma Watson, Tom Hanks and Alex Boyega in "The Circle" is Patton Oswalt, Karen Gillan and Bill Paxton.The movie is directed by James Ponsoldt, the director of "Off the Black", "Smashed" and "The Spectacular Now". It is set for release on April 28, 2017 by EuropaCorp.
