'Destiny: Rise of Iron' Welcomes 'The Dawning' With Nova Mortis, Abbadon And A Year Three Icebreaker

Bungie is prepared to add new content to "Destiny: Rise of Iron" this December. The company is calling the event "The Dawning" and is expected to begin on Dec. 13 and last until Jan. 3, 2017. They are not only bringing back Sparrow racing, but also adding new Exotics and a year three version of a notable year one sniper rifle.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is getting a total of three exotic weapons this month. VG24/7 has reported that the sci-fi shooter is getting the two new variants of the "Thunderlord" exotic weapon. The first variant is called the "Nova Mortis" which deals void damage to enemies. The machine gun sports mix of purple, gray, and pink color scheme. The second variant does solar damage and earns the name "Abbadon." It carries the same design but flaunts a silver, dark gray and copper paint scheme.

The third "Destiny: Rise of Iron" Exotic weapon marks the return on the "Icebreaker". The year one sniper rifle was so popular due to its ability to regenerate ammo over time. The notorious firearm makes its return to Destiny through an exotic weapon quest in the game's upcoming "The Dawning" special event.

According to GameRant, the year three version of the sniper rifle can be earned by completing strike bounties from "Commander Zavala." Just like the year three "Thorn" exotic weapon quest, getting the reward requires a bit of luck. It is randomly awarded by the games RNG system (Random Number Generator).

"The Dawning" also brings back sparrow racing. Destiny community manager David Dague confirms (via GameSpot) that it will be added permanently as an option for private matches in the future. The event also adds three new reprised strikes in "Destiny: Rise of Iron." Additionally, some of the game's exotic weapons also get new skins. The "First Curse" gets Addendum and Sequel, the "Black Spindle" receives Cold Between Starts and Ragbone, the "Thorn" adds Rose of Acid and Rose of Corruption, while the "Red Death" has White Witch and Steel Witch.
