"Madagascar", the box office hit animation film of DreamWorks is set to hit the big screen in 2019. Another funny and heart-warming adventure will be shared by Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria in "Madagascar 4" for the last time.
"Madagascar 4" was originally scheduled for a May 2018 release but since the production company, Dreamworks, made some structural changes due to financial problems, it is later moved to May 23, 2019, for Brazil and May 24, 2019, for Australia, Spain, UK, and Japan. The 4th movie of Madagascar franchise, which is also stated as the last installment is still written by Eric Darnell.
According to sources, the story line of "Madagascar 4" will primarily focus on the future of the four animals. In this installment, the great camaraderie of the super four will be tested since each one of them will realize that they have a different place where they would want to stay permanently. Alex, the Lion, will also meet his mate, which makes the story a bit more complicated. As the situation settles, they would all realize that friendship does not only mean going to adventures together but also true friendship will stand the test of time and distance.
The "Madagascar" franchise has always been a box office since its first release in 2005. The series has made a total of $1.8B gross sale around the world. A couple of spin-offs, short films, and other animated series with the other minor characters also made its way to the public with good acceptance rating. "Madagascar 4" has long been planned, announcing its release way back on June 12, 2014. In January 2015, a new policy was implemented by DreamWorkds to produce only two films a year, thus the animal-themed comedy-adventure is pushed to a 2019 slate.
