The base game for "The Sims 4" was released on September 2, 2014. According to game experts, the gap for "The Sims" games usually comprise of three to five years which would mean that "The Sims 5" for 2017 might be a bit farfetched.

However, it is highly possible that EA Games might be planning or developing "The Sims 5" by 2017. Creation of "The Sims 5" might take two to three years so it is right on schedule. There are speculations that "The Sims 5" will be the first EA Games franchise to have Virtual Reality or VR-features.

Aside from the possible VR-features of "The Sims 5," there are also sources saying that EA Games might also delve into the 360-degree features. If the VR-features and 360-degree features of "The Sims 5" will push through, players can forget about using hand controls and simply play the game with gestures.

According to reports, an insider from EA Games revealed that turning "The Sims 5" into a VR-compatible game entails a very big budget, bigger than what EA spent in any of the previous "The Sims" franchise. With that, the development of "The Sims 5" will reportedly be partially dependent on the success of "The Sims 4."
