CONSOLES

Xbox One Release Date, Specs, Games, Price, Tech: Achievement Interface Shown

Here's What the Achievement Screen Looks Like for the Xbox One

With Sony striking first last week with releasing the PlayStation 4, now it's Microsoft's turn to release its own next-gen console, the Xbox One, later this week. To keep the anticipation going until its out this Friday, Microsoft is releasing as much new information as possible (I'm sure there'll also be a few things that we've seen already, too).

Courtesy of Mike Ybarra, Studio Manager at Microsoft Studios, we now know what the Achievement Interface looks like. Ybarra shared some images via his Twitter account. Seen above, you can see the achievement hub for Ryse: Son of Rome, Crytek's QTE heavy launch title for the console. It's not a huge difference from the current hub for the Xbox 360, but the achievement tiles are a nice touch. A few of the achievement lists for some Xbox One titles have already surfaced in the case of Dead Rising 3, Halo: Spartan Assault, and Killer Instinct.

Microsoft's Xbox One launches on Nov. 22, and will be available in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and the United States for $499.

The new console claims an 8-core x86 processor and Microsoft hopes it will take the place of the family room cable box by letting you watch Blu-ray movies and TV through the console, in a "seamless transition" that lets players switch from playing games to watching shows and/or movies. It will come fully loaded with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.

The following games offered at launch include Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, FIFA 14, Killer Instinct, Ryse: Son of Rome, and more. You can check out a list of the install sizes for all of the launch games here.

A cross-country tour where Microsoft is demoing the system at various locations is already underway, and demo kiosks have begun arriving at certain retailers.
