Supporters of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump are calling for a boycott of the movie “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Their call for the boycott was because writers of the film allegedly revised the script and added anti-Trump scenes.
In a tweet, Jack Posobiac, the special projects director of Citizens for Trump, claimed Trump was called a racist in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” a prequel to the Star Wars franchise scheduled to open on Dec. 16. He claimed the movie said Trump is a white supremacist.

Followers of Jack Posobiac on Twitter retweeted his posts using the hashtag #DumpStarWars. The call to boycott “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was likely triggered when Chris Weitz and Gary Whitta, screenwriters of the movie, changed their Twitter avatars to the logo of Rebel Alliance which has a safety pin hooked, Mashable reports.
The logo became popular again after Trump unexpectedly won in the November U.S. presidential election. It was initially used to symbolize solidarity with immigrants after the Brexit vote in U.K. since the migrants were intimidated and subjected to racism. Besides using the logo, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” screenwriter Chris Weitz also tweeted that the Empire is a white supremacist organization.
There was indeed extensive reshooting in summer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” but it was not to add anti-Trump scenes. All “Star Wars” movie usually have multiple reshoots such as the scenes that George Lucas ordered added to “Empire Strikes Back.”
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” screenwriter Chris Weitz, in a tweet, told the boycott movement the rumor that they added anti-Trump scenes is completely fake. He accused Jack Prosobiec of lying.
Familiar Characters
Among the familiar characters that moviegoers would see when “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” premieres on Friday, Dec. 16, are Darth Vader and Mon Mothma, according to Movieweb. However, in a post on the Star Wars Speculation subreddit, tphilb claimed to have seen the credits for the movie and spotted Princess Leia and C3PO. Actress Ingvild Deila was listed as Princess Leia.
