'The Walking Dead' News & Update: The Zombie Series Is On Brink Of Cancellation? AMC Network in Jeopardy

"The Walking Dead" series seems already lose its magic and gone are the years that it seems to be unstoppable where back to back seasons and ratings continued to surge. But as the series ends their first half of its seventh season on Sunday, the series is heading the rock-bottom.

The series got their second best total of the audience over 17.03 million, but a second after the epic premiere where fans saw Negan lambasted the heads of two adored characters, the season seven has then experienced a great downfall from its ratings. According to E! the show lost a quarter of its audience or more than five million viewers and it is the lowest-rated season since the previous season 3 back in 2013.

AMC has been uniquely dependent on the show which airs a total of 16 episodes a year, and for this, the double-digit decline is bothering the securities. On December 7, the analyst of MoffettNathanson, Michael Nathanson stated that, with the massive drop in ratings at an alarming pace, they are becoming negative about AMC Networks' possibility of sustaining the momentum of its biggest series have not resonated with with critics and viewers the same way with the AMC's holy trinity (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Mad Men once) did.

One of the reasons why the Walking Dead has shrunk sharply is mainly because of the age. Second, because some of the audience's favorite characters are now dead. Especially the character of Steven Yeun (Glenn) where Glenn inexplicably survive in the direst situation only to just die earlier this season.

As per the report of USA Today, It is obvious that fans don't like Negan that much and the series did try to escalate the violence that even Negan (Morgan) stated in an interview that the opening episode of the show is a lot for fans for fans to handle the close-up gore.

According to Charlie Collier, the president of AMC stated that for a cable drama to reached season 7 and remained No.1 for 5 consecutive years is remarkable. AMC further claimed the viewers did increase for about 50 percent last fall. So a total of 13 million views this season. Though the views generate less ad revenue.
