Will Smith Speaks Up Reasons Why He Accepted Character Of Deadshot In 'Suicide Squad' Over Captain Steven Of ‘Independence Day 2’

Will Smith was very excited in reprising his role as Captain Steven Hiller in "Independence Day: Resurgence," a sequel to his hit movie Independence back in 1996. But everyone left puzzled as he ventured different path and takes the role of a badass hero in the recent successful movie of DC, "Suicide Squad."

According to MovieWeb, the 48-year-old actor looked forward as he was on board and was already preparing to zip up his suit to take down another alien once again in Resurgence. But Smith changes his mind as he had some not-so-good collaboration with the director, Roland Emmerich.

Roland Emmerich directed some of the movies of Will Smith and that includes "After Earth" in 2013 and "Men In Black" (MIB) in 2012 that really experienced a hard time at the box office. Emmerich approach again Smith claimed that the set and his script is ready to go but he takes down the offer.

As per the report of Comicbook, Smith revealed that he wanted to do new things and wanted to go aggressively forward and by doing so, he opted to take the character of Deadshot or Floyd Lawton together with David Ayer in Suicide Squad with some hero-villain characters and saves the world from aliens. Captain Steven's character was simply killed off-screen and a video released to explained the death of Will's character.

During in an interview with Will Smith pertaining to his upcoming movie this December, he stated "I have to choose between Suicide Squad and Independence Day 2," further stating that his choice has nothing to do with the movie's quality. That the choice he made was for him to move forward and not clawing backward.

" I do want to aggressively go forward and wanted to do new things, create (new things) and hopefully be able to stumble upon a new heyday," he explained. The "Collateral Beauty" will hit the theaters on December 16, 2016.
