With "Game of Thrones" season 7 midway through its production, one of the biggest questions in fans' minds is when author and executive producer George R.R. Martin will be announcing the "The Winds of Winter" release date. The much-awaited sixth entry in the "A Song of Fire and Ice" series has been long-gestating since the fifth book "A Dance With Dragons" was released back in 2011, with the TV series eventually catching up to the books.

Rumor has it that Marti n is two chapters away from finishing the sixth book and announcing a "The Winds of Winter" release date. The last update he gave on the "Winds of Winter" release date was back in May via Entertainment Weekly when he released a new chapter.

This news about "The Winds of Winter" release date comes a few weeks after the entire plot of "Game of Thrones" season 7 allegedly leaked. According to The Daily Mail, "Game of Thrones" season 7 will be featuring a lot of deaths and will possibly feature one of Daenerys Targaryen's dragons turned by the Night King into one of his lackeys.
