‘Logan’ Star Hugh Jackman Makes A Sacrifice: The Final Wolverine Is R-Rated

'Logan' star Hugh Jackman needed to make a sacrifice to make his movie R-rated - he needed to experience a paycut. As the final instalment of the 'Wolverine' franchise, Jackman will have to bid farewell to his iconic character.

'Logan' will be the ninth movie where Hugh Jackman will be portraying the X-Men's significant character Wolverine. In order to make the last movie to have a cinematic experience, if compared to the other previous films, it was decided that it has to be more violent and gory.

Jackman really wanted the movie to become R-rated, so he accepted a paycut just to make it happen - the sacrifice he needed to do in order to get what he want. On Twitter, Eric Vespe of Ain't It Cool News tweeted:

"Mangold said that Hugh Jackman took a salary cut because he wanted to do an R-rated movie."

When James Mangold presented the first 40-minutes of 'Logan' to a selected audience, by the end of the presentation, those in attendance were "kinda pi**** the movie stopped, refreshing after a couple of cartoony Singer X-films", according to Vespe.

The R-rating is sought after especially as 'Deadpool' became a success having the same violence and gore content.

With regards to 'Deadpool' the same "paycut" scheme was made with having a measly $58 million budget. However, despite having a low cost, the film became a blockbuster - which is why 'Logan' may have the possibility of ending up with the same success.

So far, 'Deadpool' is the highest R-rated film on history, and was the highest grossing X-Men franchise so far. Which is why Hugh Jackman may be wanting to beat the record and make his film as the biggest R-rated movie in history.

'Logan' is expected to hit the theaters on March 3, 2017, where the remaining members of the X-Men will have to fight against a sinister group of villains called Transigen.
