After Gail was still stuck in the elevator for a couple of days now and due to her desperation, she loaded her gun and thought of killing herself. Gail never thought anybody will find her, she grabbed it and began shooting aimlessly. She even hit her other leg which made her life at risk in "The Last Man On Earth."
Gail of "The Last Man On Earth" did all her attempts to signal any possible person to help her out, but it seemed impossible as nobody has heard her. There were only few bullets left after she fires unintentionally, as per AV Club.
From a distance, Todd hurried in the room after he heard Melissa screaming, while Tandy and Carol has been celebrating as they welcome another addition to their family. Later on Carol heard another gunshot. Hoped this was a signal that Gail will finally get a rescue in "The Last Man On Earth."

TV Line also reported that Tandy and Carol was on their belated honeymoon wherein he made her a surprise date. Tandy realises that Carol was so depressed without Gail. The two celebrated it in a nearby lake and they recreated a camp site and went fishing as well. Carol got a fish and named it after her adoptive mom, Gail.

Night after their deep talk, Gail has jumped up the bucket and the two had to find her. Gladly she's found and still alive. This can be a clue that the real Gail will finally be rescued from the elevator.
