On Friday, the league announced that eight participating NFL clubs would hold Madden NFL 17 video game competitions in February and March, giving gamers an opportunity to win $10,000 in total prizes at each city in front of a live audience. Additionally, the competitions will be streamed on team websites and apps in addition to the "Madden NFL Twitch" channel.
The NFL season will continue long after "Super Bowl" is played in Houston on Feb. 5, albeit of a gaming variety. Gamer fans can begin qualifying on Jan. 9 2017 to see who is among the top eight gamers in each city. The winners will then compete in April's "Madden 17 Club Series Championship," which has a $50,000 prize pool and provides gamers the opportunity to qualify for the "2017 EA Sports Madden Championship" the following month.
Meanwhile, Madden NFL 17 has its latest update improving various rosters in the game. One of the big gainers for this week is none other than New York Giants defensive tackle Harrison. Harrison has been a force in the trenches for the Giants as of late, and he's played a pivotal role in helping Big Blue close in on a playoff berth. Harrison's efforts have not gone unnoticed inside the game, and now his virtual counterpart has been given an overall mark of 84.
Carolina Panthers lineman Kawann Short and Ndamukong Suh of the Miami Dolphins have also improved noticeably, with the former's rating going up to 88 and the latter's now standing at a robust 93. Shifting away from the interior linemen and moving on now to linebackers, the newest "Madden NFL 17" roster update also improves upon the overall marks of some well-known defenders.
"SuperBowl" hero Malcolm Butler has been a steady presence for the New England Patriots this year, giving good reason for him earning an 89 inside the game.
