Samsung Gear VR Latest News & Update: Samsung Reportedly Releasing Gears Capable Of Holographic Images in 2017

Samsung is currently developing two virtual engines: one is ready to hit the market anytime soon while the other is still in developing stage and most likely will feature a futuristic level-3 Augmented Reality. Samsung Gear VR could be leaning towards a 3D holographic approach, according to reports.

At the recent Virtual Reality Summit which was held in San Diego last week, the Vice President of Samsung Electronics shared his company's vision on the next Samsung Gear VR. "Samsung's hologram technology is really, really realistic. It looks really touchable." Dr. Sung-Hoon Hong shared. Samsung is now tapping on Level 3 Augmented Reality Service. This would allow the user to have virtual to virtual interactions as well as virtual to real interaction without actual real world changes. An example given by Sung-Hoon is playing "Pokemon Go." In the game, one would be able to find Pikachu in a tree but to capture the Pokemon, the player has to move the leaves aside.

The new generation of Samsung Gear VR would learn a lot from other existing virtual reality technology such as Magic Leap & HoloLens. The Company is open to collaboration with people and companies that are also interested in the same field according to Dr. Sung-Hoon Hong. This vision of Samsung to provide a full holographic experience to the consumer is quite advanced but not entirely impossible.

Very few details were mentioned regarding the upcoming Samsung Gear VR 2 but a mention on its smartphone's Virtual Assistant was present during the interview. A more advanced Artificial Intelligence software might be on the next Samsung flagship. The smartphone's AI is described as a "personal assistant that can seamlessly and virtually help us navigate the world around us."

Samsung already had a few Samsung Gear VR in the market but these first gens are considered as a beginner's venture. The more developed technology if made public in the near future could be the realization of in-movies-only experiences.

What can you say about Samsung's Futuristic approach to the Samsung Gear VR? Would it be possible to provide a full holographic experience to the public in a year or two? Share your insights and ideas in the comment box below.
