Guerrilla Games' Next IP: Two and a Half Years into Development, Says Killzone Studio

Guerrilla Games' Next Game Has Been in Development for Over Two Years

Killzone franchise developer Guerrilla Games have been hard at work on their next IP, according to a recently released PlayStation Japan video that talks with several members from the Amsterdam studio. Released shortly after the launch of the PlayStation 4 in Japan, the video features Hermen Hulst, managing director at Guerrilla and several other staff members.

Near the end of the video, Angie Smets, executive producer at Guerrilla Games announces that the studio has been working on a new IP for the last two and a half years.

"We are working on a new IP, and we started on that already two and a half years ago, but unfortunately we cannot share details yet of the new IP, so you'll have to be a bit more patient on that," Smets revealed.

This wouldn't be the first time that we hear of Guerrilla's new IP, but details are still next to non-existent. Last September, Shadow Fall lead designer Eric Boltjes told Eurogamer that the new IP will be “something completely different to Killzone.” Aside from that, all we know is that it's been in development for quite some time.

Guerrilla Games latest release was Killzone: Shadowfall for the PlayStation 4. Releasing alongside the PlayStation 4, Shadowfall was one of the bigger launch titles for the console, with it essentially being touted as the “must have” game for every PlayStation 4 owner by the console maker. Its reception wasn't perfect, but damn was it pretty.

Since they're developing a game that's supposedly completely different than Killzone, I wonder what we'll get. A hack and slash? A third person shooter? A racing game?! Oh, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
