'Mafia 3' 2017 DLC Release Dates Revealed As December PS4 Version Upgrade Went Unnoticed

The "Mafia 3" developers are expected to launch three new content for the action-adventure video game. Hangar 13 announced that the first of the three big story-based DLC packs will be launched late in March. Additionally, PS4 Pro players reportedly got a boost in the game's native resolution with a game upgrade.

Faster, Baby! Joins Lincoln With Roxy Laveau

Hangar 13 unveiled that the first "Mafia 3" Story DLC expansion, "Faster, Baby!" would put together the protagonist with his sister-in-arms Roxy. The two are set on a mission to take down a corrupt sheriff terrorizing Civil Rights activists. Furthermore, the story is said to have revolved around an epic stunt driving as well as dramatic car chases, IGN reported.

In addition, the first DLC pack would also feature a new area of the New Bordeaux never before seen in "Mafia 3". The second DLC pack, on the other hand, is slated for release in May this year. "Stones Unturned" will focus on Lincoln's past. Apparently, a new rival is also expected to show up in New Bordeaux. "Mafia 3" players are expected to work with Lincoln's CIA buddy, John Donovan to settle a blood feud that began on the battlefields of Vietnam.

Finally, the third release would come in July 2017 for all "Mafia 3" versions. The "Sign of the Times" is said open with Lincoln's new mission working for Father James on a series of ritualistic killings. The "Mafia 3" protagonist is expected to get to the bottom of the cult working their way through the New Bordeaux.

New PS4 Pro Upgrade Goes Unnoticed

In other news, Digital Foundry reportedly discovered a PS4 Pro upgrade that was launched in December that went unnoticed. The update boosted the native resolution of "Mafia 3" from 1080p to 1440p for PS4 Pro users with a 4K TV. Playing without a 4K TV, according to players, will feature the game at 1080p, GameSpot reported.

"Mafia 3" players on the Sony console got smoother frame rates that are more consistent. Note however that the game is still capped at 30FPS. The upgrade reportedly came with the free DLC that introduced a new racing mode and more car customizations to "Mafia 3" late last year.
