“Nier: Automata” is a Japanese action RPG developed by Platinum games. There has been high hypes surrounding the title, but has it managed to live up to it?

A short review released by Forbes magazine describes the title as an action RPG, which switches between third-person camera, sidescrolling and a top-down view, all of which smoothly flow between one another never upsetting the player during the switches. This natural transition of camera and perspective is a unique feature which not many games have managed to explore before it and gives it the rare charm of a square shaped jewel on top of a mountain of pyramidal structures. Is the innovative camera transition the only thing that keeps the game going and fresh?

Geek shares an amazing description of "Nier: Automata". It is a nihilist experience where everything and everyone is ready to kill you. There is no divinity, nor is there a secret moral to life, all you have is existence for the sake of survival. The atmosphere has not fallen out of thin air, as the game is fifth to be placed in this merciless universe and it further develops the futility and meaninglessness of one’s existence. It feels almost like reading the lovechild of Kafka and Lovecraft’s work as giant cosmic deities prove just how meaningless your life is, even beyond the futility of mortal existence. But this does not mean that the game is a constant downer the never stops hurting you, much like the “Dark Souls” series manage to do.

PC Games Network celebrates the release of the game and reveals some of the mechanics behind the title. You are not some pathetic creature that just survives, you are a pathetic creature who is the best at surviving. Timed dodges, fast paced melee attacks and ranged projectiles turn you enemies into dust and bring about the feeling of might, even though it is just a delusion in this universe.

When it comes to gameplay, the game runs smoothly on the PS 4 and shows no signs of frame drop, lag or glitches, which helps develop ambience and completely deluge the player into the captivating atmosphere. Good news to PC players is that the title will be released through Steam on March 17, so they will get a chance to try the title for themselves. “Nier: Automata” is available on PS 4 and will be released for PC on March 17, 2017 for $59.99.
