Some new details about the upcoming Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot), as well as Warzone 2, have surfaced.

First, the leaks reveal a potential release window for MW2: June, which might be followed by a multiplayer beta a month later, reports GameSpot. Second, there were reports of a new map that's scheduled to come to both Modern Warfare 2 and COD Warzone 2. Third, another leaker said there would be changes to how the Warzone sequel will implement loadout drops.

Let's start with the MW2 map. That leak comes from notable Call Of Duty leaker TheMW2Ghost, who posted a rough drawing of the map:

They claimed to have seen the map they believe will come to both MW2 and Warzone 2. In MW2, the map is said to be for use in a DMZ mode that other leakers say is a survival game mode inspired by Escape From Tarkov. They also said that what they shared is just a remake "based off the actual map image," and not an actual layout of the map itself.

If you manage to see the image, you can clearly see a large river crossing the entire length of the map. You can also find a lake to the east of it, and there are several weapon and padlock icons on it. One can assume that these are weapon/ammo and equipment stations, though it's not clear yet.

As for details regarding COD Warzone 2, some details were shared by YouTuber NerosCinema involving two major things: loadouts will be locked inside strongholds, which are specific areas on a map where you have to complete certain objectives like defuse a bomb, kill some AI enemies, and then you'll get access to your loadout.

To cap things off, reliable game industry leaker Tom Henderson reportedly posted a small gameplay snippet of either MW2 or Warzone 2, which looks to have been deleted since, reports ComicBook. But before the gameplay video was taken down, Henderson allegedly said that the footage is old and dates back from around November or December 2021.

For now, take these leaks with a grain of salt until official channels share accurate details.

More Details About Call Of Duty MW2 And Warzone 2

It wasn't made clear during the first official reveal which platforms MW2 will be released on. But according to TechRadar, it is very likely that the game will be current-gen only, meaning it will only come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. This was perhaps hinted by developer Infinity Ward during the reveal, wherein they said that "a new generation" of Call Of Duty will be coming in a February 4 tweet:

Considering how several big-budget games have already abandoned last-gen (i.e. Gotham Knights), then the likelihood of MW2 being a current-gen exclusive is becoming clearer by the day. As for Warzone 2, the same thing is expected to happen - though Henderson believes there is still a possibility for it to release on last-gen, reports CharlieIntel.
