Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Releases on PC This June, Microtransactions Inbound? [VIDEO]

PC Players Getting Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare in June

Enjoy exclusivity while you can, because beginning this summer, PopCap's photosynthetic blaster Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare lifts its mighty roots from humble beginnings on the Xbox 360 and One, and will cross-pollinate over to the PC.

"We've had an amazing response from players since launching the Xbox platforms, and can't wait for PC players to join the party this summer," said Garden Warfare Producer Brian Lindley in a press release. "The PC version has all the great content that we have put out since launch like Garden Variety and Zomboss Down for players to enjoy from the start."

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare for PC will also include all content from the Garden Variety and Zomboss Down DLC packs, offering a Wild West themed update with eight new playable characters, customizations, and a Cactus Canyon map.

Starting today, Players can also pre-order the Origin Digital Deluxe edition, which includes two Booster Packs, in-game coins and an exclusive character customization pack.

Interesting timing, as the announcement comes just after players had the weekend to consider that the dreaded microtransaction (something EA is rapidly becoming known for) was now approved and would be cemented in to Garden Warfare.

"Starting next week, players will be given the option to purchase coins from the Sticker Shop, which allows players the ability to access new packs and character content more quickly - all the same content that can be earned through regular gameplay," explained Lindley in an EA blog post.

"Now you have the choice to play your way; you can play to get new packs and content via earned coins in the game, or you can purchase coins to get more of the packs and content you want right away."

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare's PC release is set for June 24. Check out the launch trailer below.
