'Legend Of Zelda Majora's Mask' Advent Calendar Kickstarter Project: The Best Christmas Gift For Fans Needs Your Help

Your Newest Obsession: Majora's Mask Handmade Advent Calendars

Do you like The Legend of Zelda? Do you like Christmas? Do you like handmade arts and crafts that you can currently back on Kickstarter? If you answered yes to all three of the above questions, then Matt Fox and his company Culture Cal have got something very special for you: a The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask themed advent calendar. And he needs your help to make his dream a reality.

Will The New Legend of Zelda Feature Multiplayer Support?

In what is to be the first of hopefully many, Mr. Fox is creating hand and laser crafted advent calendars out of wood. The Majora's Mask calendar is the current prototype and let's just say, it's pretty special. Masterminding the whole project, Matt enlisted the help of several of his more artistically inclined friends to create a "Tolkien-esque fantasy map" of Termina, the world in which Majora's Mask takes place. This map is then etched onto an 8 x 12 piece of wood to give it a very weathered, very awesome looking design and feel.

The board is then fitted with 24 hooks, which hold the 24 separate mask tokens, each one a lovingly rendered version of a mask found in the game.

On the project's Kickstarter page, Matt explains that "it started innocently enough while rambling with a friend about The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. During the conversation, we discussed the 24 masks painstakingly collected throughout the game. 'Wait a second,' I thought, 'there are 24 days in the advent season.' The serendipitous parallel switched our conversation from gameplay to Zelda-themed advent calendars." Because of course Zelda themed advent calendars are supposed to be a thing, and Matt is seeing to it good and proper.

The project is asking for a paltry $7500, most of which is going towards his own personal laser printer, to better assemble the wood boards. If it succeeds, expect to see some other pop culture themed advent calendars, such as Dr. Who, Bioshock and the Elder Scrolls. Mr. Fox will let the fans decide which one comes next, but it's up to you and me to make sure he can get that far.

There's plenty of time left on the project. Check out the Kickstarter page and pledge today!

In the meantime, check out this unnerving as hell commercial for Majora's Mask. Man, the 90s were great...
