Nintendo Switch Release Date, Latest News & Update: 'Super Mario' Headlining Console Debut In 2017

The Nintendo Switch is expected to come out in March 2017 with rumors running like crazy on what the next game console will have to offer. A lot of the new things to expect will be rendered at the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017, something happening in January 13, 2017.

The presentation will be streamed globally on that day which will be open to media, analysts and trade partners, Nintendo Insider reported. It all takes place in Tokyo Big Sight in Japan where the official launch date of the Nintendo Switch is expected to be announced.

With a couple of months to go, the first game/s to be offered are of interest to gamers eager to see how Nintendo tees off from the Wii U. The word out is that a 3D "Super Mario" game will be the one tasked to do so, the game of which will be playable at the presentation. This will most likely be a game similar to "Mario 64" or "Mario Galaxy" according to Let’s Play Video Games.

While most may be familiar with the "Super Mario" 3D World-style game, the report adds that it will be totally different. It will be more of stages where linear paths are to be completed at a single time.

Other than that, the Nintendo Switch will allegedly be more expensive and be available worldwide. Aside from the game proper, maps and modes will be reportedly added free similar to the Wii U.

As mentioned in a previous post, the Wii U will cease production this month. That all the more ups the stakes on the Nintendo Switch which is pegged to take over from the not-so-impressive run of the previous game console.

Aside from Mario, other game titles expected include “Legend of Zelda” and some third party games spotted on the initial trailer. The speculated games include “Just Dance”, “Basketball”, “Elder Scrolls: Skyrim”, “Splatoon”, and “Mario Kart”, all of which are up for confirmation.
