Facebook News & Updates: Company Brings 500 Jobs To UK, New London Headquarters will Open in 2017

The social media giant, Facebook, will be bringing in around 500 to 1,500 jobs in United Kingdom this 2017. The news reached headlines after it was announced that another Facebook headquarters will open in London in the coming year.

According to Nicola Mendelsohn, Facebook's European head, the UK is one of the best locations for any tech company and they will be looking for a lot of high-skilled engineering positions. This move is indeed vital to the story of Facebook.

During her speech to the CBI, she added that she looks at Britain as the go to place for innovators, tech investors and even scientists on a global scale. The European head for Facebook also promised funds for more research and development, as well as a possible agreement on the status of EU nationals who are working in Britain after Brexit.

Last month, Facebook also introduced Workplace, a new intra-office network. This is their first launching outside of the US and produced purely by their British team.

Yahoo reported that Facebook is not the only one who will be expanding to the UK. Google has already announced that it will be opening a new office building close to the King's Cross train station while Apple is eyeing the abandoned Battersea Power Station for their expansion in 2021.

According the Independent, the new Facebook office is still under construction and is located at Fitzrovia, Central London. Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London was all praises about the Facebook expansion. He mentioned that this decision only proves that London is one of the best tech hubs and they will continue to show continuous growth.

London's tech scene has long been the envy of other areas in Europe and the commitment of Facebook only shows how open the city is for more entrepreneurs, innovative minds and talent. London is definitely one of the places where people are willing to visit no matter what their backgrounds are.
