Huawei Latest News & Update: 10nm Huawei Kirin 970 Processor Coming? Support For Global Cat. 12 LTE?

Huawei recently launched its Kirin 960 flagship mobile processor and there are already rumors that the company has now started developing its next-generation device. Given the stride at which the Chinese giant is rising in the mobile market and the ambitions that it has, it won't be surprising to find out if it certainly has.

Word on the street is that Huawei's next-generation processor will be known as Kirin 970 and that it will be grounded on the 10nanometer process. One of the major features of the new chip is backing for global Cat. 12 LTE, which will allow the chip to support more of the bands set up in niche markets like the United States, and faster LTE across the board worldwide.

Huawei Latest News: Enormous Spike In Performance May Be Anticipated

As cited in AndroidHeadlines, the 10nm process apparently being used for the Kirin 970 is about 30 percent more efficient than the 16nm process that was on the Kirin 960. This means that up to 30 percent more transistors can fit on the board.

This could explain an enormous spike in performance, although the risk of having closely-packed components is overheating, as seen in the Snapdragon 810. The chip will possibly be of the typical octa-core persuasion. Add that to an an expansive quad-core Cortex-A73 setup running alongside a less power-hungry cluster of Cortex-A53 cores and paired with an equally powerful Mali-G71 octa-core GPU for pixel pushing.

Huawei's Flagship Devices Comparable With Samsung's Exynos 8895?

Recently, Samsung affiliated up with Qualcomm to create a 10 nm manufacturing process for mobile system-on-a-chip units. TSMC, a direct competitor, has also produced a 10nm process. One of the first to use this technology is rumored to be Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 835 mobile processor, along with Samsung's own Exynos 8895 chipset. However, it appears that other manufacturers, like the 29-year-old company Huawei, won't be too far behind the curve.

According to Ubergizmo, no further specifics are available right now about the Huawei Kirin 970's specifications. That's rational since this processor won't really be put into service until next year. Anticipate it to power the Chinese multinational company's flagship devices in 2017.
