Huawei Honor Magic Preview: Design, Hardware, Release Date And Price

Curved displays have steadily become more commonplace as TVs, smartwatches and smartphones began to feature the technology. The technology does not only add to an impressive design, but also features some unique gimmicks that might make the device more appealing. Huawei intends to embrace that concept through its Huawei Honor Magic.

The Huawei Honor Magic sports one of the curviest designs in the market. Its front and back panels sport a curved glass sheet that tapers and melds with each edge and corner. GSMArena does not only describe the smartphone to be "as smooth as a pebble," but also notes that its internal components pack enough power.

Design

The Huawei Honor Magic features a metallic body with visible antenna lines on the sides, which is sandwiched between two sheets of curved glass. The rear cover is flat and smooth except for a single recessed spot on top, which houses its LED flash. Its dual primary cameras are set under the curved glass back panel. The front side also sports the same curved panel with only the earpiece, selfie camera, and home button as the recessed cutouts from the glass. The right side holds the power key and volume rocker, while the left is barren. The top features a secondary microphone and bottom gets a USB Type-C port, SIM tray, 3.5mm headset jack and a loudspeaker grille.

Hardware

Running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Huawei Honor Magic is reportedly using a 2.3GHz Octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 950 CPU with a Mali T880 MP4 GPU. It flaunts a curved 5.09-inch 577ppi AMOLED touchscreen with a 2560 x 1440 display resolution. Its 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage seems ample enough, but some users might find the lack of expandable memory bothersome. It captures images through a dual 12-megapixel primary camera and selfies with its 8-megapixel front-facing unit. Its battery registers a 2900mAh capacity

Release date and price

With an estimated delivery date of Dec. 25, 2016, the Huawei Honor Magic is currently up for pre-order in China. The Premium-looking device is priced at $530 and is expected to hit international markets soon.
