Nintendo Switch: Shigeru Miyamoto Credits Satoru Iwata For Ideas

Shigeru Miyamoto was recently interviewed and talked about how the Nintendo Switch came to be. He claims that the new console was a combination of ideas from group of people within Nintendo, but Miyamoto wanted to give credit to Satoru Iwata. Iwata has passed away back in 2015 at the age of 55, which the gaming community reportedly considered as too soon.

Miyamoto told Time that Iwata, being the development head, was really involved with the Switch's creation. He claims that the features of the device being capable with networking, communication and definitely portable were the late executive's ideal concept. Miyamoto explained that "Mr. Iwata, Mr. Takeda and myself provided feedback and made decisions," but Iwata's opinions were the ones that really mattered in the end.

The Nintendo Switch apparently came to be because of Satoru Iwata's technical inclinations, describes Shigeru Miyamoto. He also noted that mostly the younger staff presented some of the concept material and feedback was generally given afterwards by the executives. Miyamoto claims that they almost never encountered any conflicts during the console's development, but instead always focused on keeping the cost down as a team.

It appears that one of Nintendo's key to their continued success is to really focus on products that provide fun to the consumer. Miyamoto pointed out that it was the company's goal to use money to create fun. Their company also believed that they must do something different and be unique compared to other businesses. These are the company's philosophies that Iwata apparently lived by, claims Miyamoto.

Kotaku notes that back in March 2015, Satoru Iwata already teased some hints about the Nintendo Switch, which was still known to have the codename NX. It also seems like Shigeru Miyamoto believes that the upcoming gaming system can be credited to Iwata's ideas. Sources suggest that players remember the creative corporate executive when they grab the latest Nintendo console during its launch on March 3, 2017.
