Indie Horror Game 'Home' Announced for PS4 and Vita

In the ongoing wave of PlayStation indie announcements this month, we're seeing yet another popular title ported to Sony's home and portable consoles. Benjamin Rivers' horror game Home will be joining the likes of Lone Survivor, FEZ, and many indie hits on PlayStation as we see more and more PC titles make their way to our livings room, or in this case, bathrooms, the bus, airports, etc.

Home is a cute but terrifying horror game that uses pixel art graphics and the use of sound as a means to scare players through immersion and lowered expectations. I find that the use of a simple art style is a great way to add to a player's imagination within horror video games. Corpse Party, Lone Survivor, and even PS1 classics potentially benefit from reduced detail; your mind fills in the gaps, and that's the best kind of horror!

Benjamin describes Home as an experience that is catered around player choices, but not in the traditional means such as affecting one's ending. Each playthrough of Home is said to be different per person, leaving people with their own unique thoughts and version of the game.

In regards to console specific features for Home, Benjamin seems tight lipped but proposes a question that hints that new content might be a possibility. As for when we will hear more about the PlayStation port, Benjamin says he will reveal more in a future PlayStation Blog entry.

Home will hit the PlayStation 4 and Vita sometime this year.
