This release window, TechRadar reports, was mentioned during a recently concluded livestream from the developers where senior producer Philippe Ducharme was asked about when the game will be out. Aside from giving a for-now vague window of the release, Ducharme also confirmed that the remake is now in the pre-alpha.

Here is the live stream from the official "Dead Space" channel on YouTube. Check by the 48:27 mark for Ducharme's comments:

Ducharme was joined by creative director Roman Campos-Oriola and audio director Olivier Asselin. The three devs talked about how the game's audio will be a key part of the overall experience, as well as how weapons and even the protagonist's breathing contribute to the remake's "aural atmosphere," writes Polygon.

In layman's terms, the game will rely heavily on its sound to truly bring back the tension that made the original "Dead Space" a survival horror classic.

EA motive announced the remake of the classic space horror game back in Jule of last year, with an official reveal trailer shared during EA Play Live. The remake promises to be a "completely rebuilt game" from the ground up, which will take advantage of the power of next-gen hardware on PC and new consoles. It was built using EA's now-iconic Frostbite engine.

For now, the development team at EA Motive says they're going to be "in a solid position" to properly polish and debug the game to meet their projected release window. Ducharme also mentioned that the studio does have a targeted release date in mind, but they're just not ready to share it yet.

What Else Is Known About The 'Dead Space' Remake?

Ever since being announced last year, there's not a lot of concrete details about the "Dead Space" remake.

According to an article by PCGamer, the game will not be a perfect 1:1 recreation of the original from 2008. It will, however, feature reworked dismemberment mechanics that will cater to all gore lovers out there. Aside from that, the game's zero-G sections will also be remade, and it will feature 3D audio (which will likely sound like heaven on the PS5) alongside more modern lighting and visual effects.

If you want to see just how EA Motive is redoing the dismemberment, here is a video talking about it:

Campos-Oriola mentioned how the team wanted to show players the amount of damage they're doing to opponents. Their new tech now allows players to literally "shoot flesh off the bones" of enemies, which could indicate just how useful a specific weapon is, as well as how close the enemy is to death.

To round things off, the remake promises an "improved story" and characters alongside new gameplay mechanics that likely take advantage of the capabilities of next-gen consoles. Think the PS5's DualSense, which could feature insanely good immersion with its haptic feedback that makes you "feel" the game's entire world-the desolate spaceship USG Ishimura-in the palm of your hand.
