It is finally Friday and you know what that means here at GameNGuide! It is time for our weekly ProFiles feature!

For the first time in the series, we are going to feature a professional Valorant player. However, it is not just any other player. He is, in fact, the very first player to reach the Valorant, now known as Radian, rank in North America.

If you guessed Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, you got that right!

ProFiles: Valorant's TenZ

Many eSports players get their start in a different game before movin to the one they end up excelling in. Such is the case with TenZ, who actually started playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive first. In fact, an article by Nerd Street says that he started playing the game at just three years old.

At just 15 years old, TenZ competed in his first ever LAN, but it required the permission of his mother. He ended up joining Cloud9 and competed as part of its CS:GO team before becoming a streamer.

By then, it seemed like CS:GO is not where he was meant to be. It did not take long, however, for opportunity in the form of Valorant to come knocking in.

TenZ Makes the Switch to Valorant

According to ProSettings.net, TenZ made to switch to Valorant when the game became available in 2020.

"Riot Games' second truly major esports title is a direct competitor to CS:GO and released at a time when North America's CS scene was stagnant and the early days of the pandemic created plenty of free time," Nerd Street says in its article.

"Orgs were already picking up teams well ahead of the game's full release in June 2020, so ranked became a true battleground," the article adds. This is especially true for those who were hoping to become professional players.

To say that the beta period was successful for TenZ is an understatement. In fact, he made history by being the first player to reach Valorant rank in North America during its closed beta. Valorant rank is now known as Radian rank.

According to TenZ's profile on Liquipedia VALORANT, he and his team won first place at the VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavik and the VCT 2021: North America Stage 2 Challengers Finals, among others.

TenZ in Action

TenZ is currently part of the Sentinels Valorant team. According to ProSettings.net, he was first loaned to the team before making a permanent move in June 2021.

GosuGamers lists Ascent, Breeze, Haven, and Icebox as his best maps. His worst maps, however, include Bind, Fracture, and Split.
