Apex Legends Pros Are Picking Valkyrie At ALGS 98 PERCENT Of The Time

Valkyrie Has A WHOPPING 98 Percent Pick Rate At The Apex Legends Global Series Championship

Move over, Gibraltar: Apex Legends pros now have a new clear favorite, and the ALGS 2022 championship is making it VERY clear.

As reported by DotESports, the high-flying Legend has been the absolute undisputed favorite in terms of pick rate at this year's ALGS: a whopping 98 percent with 478 total picks so far at the time of this writing. Erstwhile pro darling Gibraltar is in distant second with a 72.39% pick rate, followed by Caustic (50.03%), Seer (24.81%), and Wattson (20.71%) rounding out the top five.

For the 6th to 10th places, one can say these spots contain the usual suspects - not-so-fan-favorite Legends that also don't get picked as much in non-pro tournaments. Crypto is at 6th with 14.56%; relative newcomer Horizon is at 6.56%; Ash follows with 4.31%, Newcastle at 2.46%, and Wraith is in last place with a mere 1.44%.

Compared to former heavy pick Gibraltar, Valkyrie is Apex Legends pros' current character of choice because of her very robust kit. Many pros agree that her passive abilities are among the absolute best in Apex right now. She also has arguably one of the most powerful ultimates, and her jetpack provides incredible utility at the hands of the most skilled players out there.

Perhaps the only ones opposed to Valkyrie's Apex Legends dominance right now are those who have been vocal about their hate for her. But according to a Reddit user on a post showing the abovementioned pick rates, people shouldn't be surprised for Valk's high pick rate because her ultimate is "by far the best rotation ability" in the game.

So until Respawn Entertainment actually gets her some new nerfs (some people are even saying she needs buffs), Valkyrie will be the ruler of the current Apex Legends meta for the foreseeable future. Even so, popular caster Jon "Falloutt" Kefaloukos clearly doesn't like it:

ALGS 2022 Updates

So far, the entire championship has been eventful as you'd expect it to be - it's the first time that the tournament was held in front of a live audience, and the prize pool sits at a cool $2 million US. A total of 40 teams started the tournament, and the conclusion of the group stage has had some pretty interesting results.

According to a separate report by DotESports, Furia is in first place after the group stage with 176 points total. The'yre followed by EXO Clan in second place with 166 points, and OpTic at third with 154 points total. Singularity and 100 Thieves round out the top five with 152 and 149 points, respectively.

The top 20 after the group stage are going to the Winners bracket, while the bottom 20 will go to the Losers bracket. The Losers bracket will have teams compete in two rounds with the top 10 advancing to round 2, and the bottom 10 being eliminated from the competition.

This is a developing story.
