The RTX 4070 Is Reportedly FASTER Than A Freaking 3090 Ti

Start Saving Up For An RTX 4070 Soon

WCCFTech reports that renowned industry leaker @kopite7kimi is back at it again, this time posting some "updated" specs for the 4070. They're claiming that the mainstream RTX 40 series card is going to have a base clock of 2310 MHz, boost and max clocks of 2610 MHz and over 2800 MHz, and a TGP of 285W. Aside from that, they're also saying that the card will have a total of 7690 CUDA cores, 12GB of GDDR6X memory, and "more TFLOPs than an RTX 3090 Ti." Whoa.

The RTX 4070 is expected to have up to 43 TFLOPs of FP32 compute performance. This already puts it ahead of the current top dog, the RTX 3090 Ti, which has as much as 40 TFLOPs of FP32 at maximum. But the most impressive bit here is that the 4070 is said to bring that much performance considering how it's priced at a rumored $500 - as much as the previous-gen RTX 3070 it is replacing.

$500 for the performance of a 3090 Ti is insane to think about. Also, consider that the TFLOP rating is more than double that of a previous-gen 3070, which can only muster 20 TFLOPs. Furthermore, it is able to provide that much horsepower while also consuming almost half the power of a 3090 Ti.

Now, TFLOPs are in no way a clear indicator of gaming performance. But they do help inform you about just how powerful a graphics card is. With a 7.5% performance boost over an RTX 3090 Ti, this could mean that the 4070 is fully capable of true 8K gaming - not in the same limited amount that the 3090 Ti is able to give these days. Just don't expect 8K 60 FPS, though, as that will probably be reserved for the 4080 and the 4090.

For now, it also remains to be seen whether the information shared by kopite7kimi is even accurate. That rumored pricing is likely the hardest to believe out of all of this, considering how GPU prices might still go up once the RTX 40 series is out due to high demand.

More News About The RTX 4070

If all of those new specs for the RTX 4070 were exciting for you, maybe you should temper your expectations a bit - and start saving up as early as now. That's because the release date for the next-gen NVIDIA graphics card is likely farther away than initially anticipated.

According to a report by PC Gamer, various "insiders" have claimed that there won't be a big launch this year for the RTX 40 series. There are also rumors that the 4070's release is set for some time after the 4090, as NVIDIA is said to be focusing on the high-end GPUs first for 2022.
